Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall – Visitor Guide

The Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall is a window into the achievements of Shanghai’s urban planning and construction along with vividly displaying the 2020 Shanghai City Master Plan. The Planning Pavilion is one of Shanghai’s landmarks and the newest urban tourism highlight in the People’s Square area.

The building area of ​​the exhibition hall is more than 20,000 square meters. In the exhibition area of ​​more than 7,000 square meters, the city’s urban planning and construction achievements are on display with the theme of “city, people, environment and development” providing a unique window to the city.

Key Highlights

The exhibition hall has a 500:1 scale model of urban Shanghai which is quite staggering and the 360° theatre are both highlights of the pavilion.

  • Mezzanine level – Historical & Cultural Change – capturing the dramatic changes in Shanghai over the last 100 years.
  • Second Floor – exhibition hall – temporary exhibitions
  • Third Floor – Master Plan – Featuring the 360° multi-functional virtual film and television hall and the massive scale model of downtown Shanghai
  • Fourth floor – Master Plan 2 – The 2nd Hall of the Master Plan highlights the various professional plans for the future development of Shanghai, including medium and near-term construction planning, deep water port, airport, Huangpu River development, Suzhou River comprehensive management; comprehensive urban transportation, municipal infrastructure planning, and environmental protection. Various green areas, real estate, tourism and other exhibition areas, all of which use a variety of high-tech display means, allowing visitors to comprehensively inquire about the future of Shanghai.
  • Fifth floor – The five-story ring-shaped exhibition hall and leisure sightseeing corridor and multi-functional conference and film hall are ascending and overlooking the square.
  • B1 – “Shanghai 1930” style street – Showcasing the unique architectural style of Shanghai in the 1930s, the typical French, English, Japanese, Spanish architecture and typical Shikumen Lane in Shanghai are presented.
