Intercity Coach – Shanghai Hongqiao Passenger West Station (上海虹桥客运西站) is connected to the railway station via the underground tunnel at the west exit. You can take buses to Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province, Shandong Province, Henan Province, Hubei Province, Guangdong Province, Fujian Province, and Chongqing.

Buying train tickets

You can buy tickets at ticket windows located on B1 and level 2.

Nearby Hongqiao Railway Station

• National Convention & Exhibition Center (NECC) 国家会展中心(上海) – you can easily transfer from the railway station to NECC by metro line 2. The journey takes 12 minutes.
• Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport 上海虹桥国际机场 – From Terminal 2 by metro it’s a 10-minute ride or 15 minutes by foot. About 15 min by metro from T1.
• Hongqiao World – Shopping Center 虹桥天地-购物中心 – a large new shopping and leisure area. 15 minutes walk from the rail station.

Station Floor Plan

Depart via train: You will arrive on level B1 (metro/taxi/bus) and you can buy a ticket at a window here or go straight to level 2 and locate one of the three ticket offices. After buying the ticket head through the security check and you are now in the departure hall. Your ticket should be printed with a departure gate number which is also displayed on large screens. Departure gates open 15 min before train departure. It’s actually very straightforward and easy to follow.

Arrive via train: people arriving by train go straight to B1 where you can take metro/taxi/bus to your end destination.

Level B1 – Level B1 is where you can find Metro, Bus, and Taxi services. There is also an underground passage that connects to the airport which is about 20 mins walk. There are automated ticket machines for rail tickets (require Chinese ID) and four ticket windows where you can buy your rail ticket. There are also fast-food stalls such as KFC and local variants.

Level 1 – Train platforms

Level 2 – This is the departure hall which prior to entering there are three sets of ticket windows. It is one long hall with central waiting area with seats and departure gates lining each side. Check your train number against the large TV screens for which gate number you will depart from.

Level 3 – has two sides each located above the departure gates and featuring several fast-food outlets.

Left Luggage: there is a temporary left luggage inside the waiting hall. There are no long-term left luggage services inside the station.

Toilets: it’s a modern building with several regularly cleaned toilets.

Shopping: fast food and convenience stores all of which are a touch more expensive inside the station than out.
