Shanghai National Exhibition & Convention Center (NECC) is Shanghai’s and the worlds largest exhibition center and hosts regular major national events. It’s located very near to Hongqiao Airport with easy connection to the adjacent high speed railway station and metro station.
The massive new complex hosts major national trade shows including Auto Shanghai, China International Industry Fair, Shanghai Internation Import and Export Fair, FIBO, and the China Import Expo.

Getting to Shanghai National Exhibition & Convention Center (NECC)
Shanghai Subway (Metro)
You can take metro line 2 to East Xujing Station (徐泾东) which is the western terminus of line 2. This station is inside the exhibition center grounds making it very convenient.
If you are arriving at Hongqiao Airport you can easily take line 2 from the airport directly to the center which is only two stations away.
If you are arriving at Hongqiao Railway Station you can take the metro line 2 from the station to the center which is only one station away.
If you are arriving at Pudong Airport you can take line 2 directly from the airport to the center. Note this journey would take around 2 hr.
Taxi
A taxi from the city center would take around 50 minutes and cost around 75 RMB.
A taxi from Pudong Airport would take around one hour and cost around 215 RMB.
Hotels Near Shanghai National Exhibition & Convention Center (NECC)
You can’t get any closer than this being located at Gate 3 of the NECC. The hotel is five-star featuring spa & massage center, swimming pool, buffet restaurant, gym, sauna, and bar.
It is located just minutes away from the NECC to which they also provide free shuttle services. The hotel offers large rooms, a buffet restaurant, and gym.
A four-star Mecure Hotel, there no real amenaties except a gym but it’s clean, modern, good food, and good service. Rates are often quite good here.
Our Pick – Cordis is a five-star hotel located next to Hongqiao Railway Station, near the airport and a short drive/metro ride from the NECC. It’s a new hotel in a newly developed area which also offers some walk around opportunities including Hongqiao World which is a mall offering shopping and dining. It has pool, gym (a good one), spa & massage, three restaurants on-site and shuttle service. You can walk to exit E of Hongqiao subway station easily and travel to the city or to the NECC.

Shops, Cafes & Restaurants at NECC Plaza
In the central plaza area which spans the five floors, you can find convenience stores, cafes, coffee shops, ATM, and fast food. There are a lot of well-known names including Starbucks, Dicos (Asian KFC), Pacific Coffee, McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, 7 Eleven, and for restaurants try the 3,4 and 5th floors. Banks include China Construction Bank and Bank of China. There is also a China Post office and SF Express.
