The city has a highly developed public bus network, most buses cost between 1-2 RMB and you can pay via coins, or get yourself a Shanghai Public Transport Card (SPTC, or locally jiaotong ka) which enables you to simply swipe on and off. These cards can be purchased at metro stations and some convenience stores. For bus routes, make use of Google Maps or Baidu Maps.
