Jade Buddha Temple

Jade Buddha Temple is located in Putuo District , in the north-west of Shanghai. It is one of the most important temples in the city and not only as a tourist attraction, it’s a fully functioning temple hosting regular events on the Chinese Buddhist calendar.

 

 

The temple dates back to 1882 and is famed for it’s two beautiful jade statues, both imported with one coming from Myanmar and the other from Singapore in the late 1800’s.

The temple practices Pure Land and Chan traditions of Chinese Buddhism which was the precursor of Zen Buddhism.

Take Metro Line 13 to Jiangning Road station, walk about 5 minutes.
